Postpartum Doula

  • I’m Laurel Ansbro, FNTP a functional nutritional therapy practitioner with a tremendous passion for educating people and families on all aspects of holistic health and living. After becoming a mother myself I was able to fully understand the tremendous lack of support given to mothers in our culture. Especially when it comes to the fourth trimester when the need for emotional and physical support is at its greatest. The incredible journey into motherhood has awakened the calling in me to help bridge the gap where vital support is missing for women entering their postpartum phase.

I think the most important aspect of the fourth trimester is properly feeding the mother. This is where I tend to see moms struggling the most. Not having time to eat, forgetting to eat or grabbing quick processed foods for convenience are all too common. The right nutrition with help her body heal, support milk production, support hormones, mineral depletion, blood sugar fluctuations and the emotions that arise. With my background in nutrition I will ensure every mom I work with will have access to specific foods and meals the body needs for optimal postpartum health and recovery.

Emotional support is equally important as the physical. Postpartum can be an extremely emotionally challenging time mixed with feelings of overwhelming joy to feelings of being completely overwhelmed. I offer emotional support to ensure you are processing and not storing your emotions. I also offer education on support techniques such as breath work, meditation, emotional tapping techniques, aromatherapy and journaling exercises. This will help decrease postpartum anxiety and depression.

    Other areas of support are:
            ◦       Breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding
            ◦       Newborn care
            ◦       Postpartum Preparation
            ◦       Supporting physical recovery
            ◦       Household needs/Assistance with siblings
            ◦       Connection to holistic health services
